Event description

Description

In an effort to increase the amount of projects that advance Smart Energy Communities in Ontario - such as energy efficiency retrofits, local energy generation opportunities, and new green building development - our Fall Caucus Meeting will feature a discussion on project development and financing, and how the Community Energy Planning process can support investment.

Our host, the Region of Waterloo, is in the process of developing a Community Energy Investment Strategy (CEIS) - a proactive approach to the Community Energy Planning process that is focused on identifying the sources of investment and appropriate business models to support the development of local projects and meet the Community’s energy goals.

We will be presenting the findings of our survey and initial research, hearing from a local investment success story, and having small group discussions to support the CEIS by identifying:

  • The key ingredients to a successful project business model (including roles of different stakeholders)

  • How the CEIS can support project investment

  • Successes and challenges you've experienced attracting investment in your community energy projects

We’ll be kicking off the meeting with a networking lunch. Don’t miss this chance to connect with fellow caucus members on Smart Energy Project financing and development!
