Event Details

The Healing Cuisine’s Raw Chef Certification is an intensive 6 day course where you will learn to make delicious and creative meals sure to delight and satisfy with quality local organic whole food and superfood ingredients.

 

Over the course of six days you will learn a variety of living food techniques including sprouting, marinating, germinating/activating, fermenting, and dehydrating through hands on experience with Master raw food chef Joanne Gerrard Young.  She will teach you how to formulate balanced menus and meal plans to meet your palettes and your body’s needs and desires.

 

You will have the opportunity to learn the foundations of raw food from the Godfather of Raw Food himself, Viktoras Kulvinskas co-founder of the Hippocrates Health Institute or a lecture on Detoxification & Colon Irrigation with Terri Zacanti, CHT, co-founder of the Living Light Culinary Institute and Ayahuascera shaman.

 

Enjoy all of our creations each day from juices and smoothies to breakfast, appetizers, snacks, mains and desserts. Take the lecture notes and all of the recipes home in the course manual provided.

 


 

FAQs

 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The Healing Cuisine and Casa Cecilia are located in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais, Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula.  To find us you would fly into either San Jose (SJO) or Liberia (LIR) and take a small plane to the Tambor (TMU) airport on either Sansa Air (www.flysansa.com) or Nature Air (www.natureair.com). From there it is a 45 min taxi ride to Casa Cecila, the transfer to and from Tambor is not included in the package. If the flight schedules are not synchronized, we will be happy to assist you in finding appropriate ground transportation or a private charter.

 

What can/can't I bring to the event?

You should bring clothes for warm summer weather but be prepared for rain. A light rain jacket and flip flops are are you really need. Don't forget your natural bug spray as rain can bring mosquitos.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, with at least one week advance notice to change the attendee. If you need to move to the next certification date we can do that plus 10% of the total cost of the retreat to cover the administration costs.


What is the refund policy?

You can book your spot with a non-refundable 10% retainer is required upon booking when you contact us directly at info@thehealingcuisine.com. Or can pay 50% of the total retreat when booking with full payment due one month before arrival time. Cancellation within two months of the program will receive a 30% refund of their total payment up until that time, non including the 10% retainer.

Joanne Gerrard Young

Joanne is a holistic nutritionist, organic chef and health educator in Costa Rica. She has been working in the culinary arts and holistic nutrition fields, sharing the delicious simplicity of healing with whole organic food for over 18 years. She is a personal organic chef to Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady when they visit their home in Costa Rica. 

Joanne's classes, chef services and cleanse programs have been sought after by celebrities from actors, supermodels and photographer's to CEO's, professional athlete's musicians and producers. 

She has gained fundamental healing experience and knowledge working closely with naturopathic doctors, herbalists, alternative healers, doctors of Chinese medicine and leaders in the culinary field. Joanne is currently  consulting individuals and designing healing menus and life changes for a variety of health issues and unique dietary requirements.

Young is also the owner and executive chef at The Healing Cuisine. THC is an organic whole foods company and a leader in the organic living foods & non-gmo food movements. The THC mission is to raise awareness of the amazing healing, clarifying and energizing powers of whole organic foods.

Using only the highest quality fresh local ingredients, The Healing Cuisine provides delicious nutritious foods for both the raw enthusiast, vegan, healthy “foodie” and the patron of locally sourced cooked cuisine. 

We share the delicious simplicity of healing with whole organic food through our healing retreats, cooking classes, raw food diet and juice cleanse programs.
