Topic

Re-Defining Poverty

For years, charity has been the standard model in poverty alleviation. We’ve built an entire industry on helping people based around free meals, free clothes, shelters, volunteer groups, and drop-in programs. But we haven’t ended poverty yet. What if we re-defined what poverty actually is? Would re-defining the problem impact the way we solve it? This workshop invites participants to re-define poverty, explore a different approach to poverty alleviation, cultivate questions to ask for change, and give practical examples of change in action.
