Readings from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"
Event Information
About this Event
Ebenezer Scrooge & Company are back! Music at St. Andrew’s presents its fourth annual evening of readings from Charles Dickens’ beloved seasonal tale, A Christmas Carol. The sanctuary of historic St Andrew’s Church will be decked with garlands, lanterns and candles for this atmospheric evening of readings led by renowned tenor and CBC Radio host Ben Heppner.
Admission is FREE, but this is a fundraiser for St. Andrew’s Refugee Sponsorship program. Heed Mr. Dickens’ message: give generously during the collection!
An all-star cast of fine voices will join Ben Heppner in tonight’s readings: mezzo-soprano and rising opera star Marion Newman; soprano and actress Neema Bickersteth (Soulpepper, Stratford); classical music educator Rick Phillips and veteran actress Patricia Garnett-Smith.
Between readings, The Aldbury Garden Brass Quintet will perform seasonal carols. Sing along to your favourites and stay on for the reception to enjoy hot apple cider and St. Andrew’s signature Ginger-Molasses cookies.
