Event description

Description

In a collaborative presentation, the GTA Co-op Network, The Big Carrot, and the Local Food and Farm
Co-ops will host a session on the impact of food and farm co-ops in Ontario, including the basics of
starting and maintaining co-operative businesses. The presenters will also talk about how the co-op
model has solved food system problems and strengthened local economies.

The presentations will focus especially on the importance and resurgence of the worker co-op model,
which has helped to strengthen local economies across the world. Reba Plummer from Urbane will
tell the story of the Urbane Cyclist Worker Co-op, while a representative of the Big Carrot will talk
about their experience as worker-owners. Sally Miller will speak about worker co-ops in the food and
farm sector. Matt Adams will present on the Fourth Pig Worker Co-op, that provides green and
natural building services in southern Ontario.
