About this event
“Real Ponchos has existed as the band it is today since about 2010. But we’ve been playing and making music together in Vancouver since our days as loners and stoners in highschool. We keep going because we love this music and playing together feels right. You could say our first record, SINCE I LET YOU GO, is like a heartbroken drive through the mountains. We took that trip a little deeper with our next record, to the dusty world, and then washed up on a sepia toned beach for our recent record, Sunshine. Warmth and Gratitude.” - Real Ponchos
Ben Arsenault
In a lonesome, scraggly drawl, Ben Arsenault sings songs about the road he’s travelled and the characters he’s spent time with along the way. Drawing on experiences from relationships of which he’s had the pleasure and pain of sharing, Ben’s songwriting takes a laid-back look into the conundrum that is human existence. Inspired by the wild mountains and waters of his BC home, and all the open country from Canada to Mexico, his music makes a good driving companion as you’re going down the road. His self-titled debut solo album, featuring Ben on acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals, is a tribute to the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard and all the great singer/songwriters of country music.
Emile Benjamin:
When he’s not taking photos, DJing weddings, walking his dog, or kicking out some psych country soul jams with Vancouver’s Real Ponchos, BC based artist Emile Benjamin writes and sings warm folk songs in an effort to bring his meditative meanderings to light. He draws inspiration from many corners of the world and mind, and tries to distill all the chaotic musings down to their essence… with mixed results
Aiden Ayers:
Living for the rhythm.
