About this event

Linda Faye Stead, Soprano

Linda Stead’s singing career began in Toronto, where she graduated from University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. After winning the contract to sing in the Martin Scorsese film, Age of Innocence, Ms. Stead sang in concert at Toronto’s Glenn Gould Theatre and was heard on various television and radio programmes. Her interview with Peter Gzowsky on CBC’s Morningside remains a highlight. After returning to Calgary, Linda sang for Alberta Ballet in two productions of Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder, the first with renowned choreographer Rudi van Dantzig. Alberta Ballet brought her back for Orff’s Carmina Burana, and on the reprise of the Strauss she also sang excerpts from Carmen. Ms. Stead has sung numerous times with the Calgary Philharmonic under the baton of Hans Graf. These performances included Mozart Concert Arias, the role of Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Her performance of Clärchen’s Lieder from Beethoven’s Egmont was broadcast on CBC. Linda Faye Stead has sung twice with Calgary Concert Opera Company in 2017 and 2018, the latter in the role of Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata. Linda performed in March and November of 2019 with Tierra de Luz (Anastassiia Alexander, Jonathan Lewis, and Ricardo Sanchez) to sold out audiences.

Bronwyn Schuman, Pianist

After living in Calgary her whole life, Canadian pianist Bronwyn Schuman moved to New York City in the fall of 2018 to study Collaborative Piano at The Juilliard School, where she graduated in 2020 with her Master of Music degree. A two-time winner of Juilliard’s Honors Recital in Alice Tully Hall, Bronwyn has also performed in Juilliard’s Sonatenabend and Liederabend series, Lincoln Center’s Focus Festival, and on WQXR’s live broadcast, “Midday Masterpieces.” Before Juilliard, she completed her BMus under Edwin Gnandt at Ambrose University in Calgary, Canada, where she also completed her BA in English. During her summers, she has attended the Franz-Schubert-Institut (Vienna), Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music (Calgary), SongFest (Los Angeles), and Toronto Summer Music. In addition to summer festivals, Bronwyn has enjoyed apprenticeships at other summer programs, including the operatic coach and accompanist fellowship at the Atlantic Music Festival (Maine), and the coach and répétiteur fellowship at Aquilon Music Festival (Oregon). Bronwyn is an active music teacher of beginner to advanced students, aging from 4—74-years-old! Now at work on her Doctorate at McGill University in Montreal, we are delighted to have her here to play this event!

We are excited to have singer-songwriter Vanessa Cardui joining us for Delibes Flower Duet and providing her own harmonies on Linda's original material! https://vanessacarduiartist.com
