This exciting conversation with industry leaders, will provide a timely overview of the current state of the food processing supply chain and the steps for recovery and strengthening of the industry.

Partner of BDO Canada LLP

David Linton is a Partner in BDO’s Mississauga office and leads BDO Consulting’s National Manufacturing & Distribution Industry team. He has over 30 years experience in technology-enabled business transformation and related management services consulting. David’s role includes advising clients on Technology, Management Consulting and Risk Advisory Services. He has worked with a wide range of Manufacturing & Distribution organizations, including capital equipment, aerospace & defense, electronics, food & beverage, breweries, clothing & consumer goods, lumber, chemicals and paint, distributors and wholesalers.

David’s engagements have include projects in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. He currently focuses mainly on organizations based in North America. He holds a B.Sc. In Psychology and has been Certified in Production and Inventory Management by the American Production and Inventory Control Society for more almost 30 years.

Lyndon Ashton -Centre Manager for the Canadian Food and Wine Institute's Innovation Centre of Niagara College

Lyndon William Ashton is the Centre Manager for the Canadian Food & Wine Institute Innovation Centre (CFWI IC). In this role he is responsible for the overall operations and strategic leadership of the Centre. This includes outreach to key industry partners and the successful development and implementation of food and beverage innovation services. Lyndon joined the Research & Innovation division after a diversified career, beginning in the culinary arts and eventually leading to economic development, management consulting and business planning. He earned his Culinary Red Seal, and he holds a combined degree in Political Sciences and Labour Studies from Brock University, and a certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo. With a passion for food, business development, and strategic planning, Lyndon brings a client centred focus to the Innovation Centre which recognizes that twinning talent development and knowledge transfer through value driven R&D supports are key ingredients to the recipe for economic success.

Dwight Konings - Vice President, Global Client Development, North America of The Advantage Group International, Inc.

Over 30 years gaining experience working with North American and Global clients, Dwight has become a leading advocate for building Trust between business partners to collaboratively improve business engagement.

Dwight began his career at Colgate-Palmolive engaging and expanding the business with key retailers across Atlantic and Western Canada. Subsequently over 15 years with Nielsen, he managed manufacturer and retailer relationships, trained clients and internal associates, developed and launched various product enhancement initiatives as well as leading both Merchandising Services and Store Observation Services.

Since joining Advantage 9 years ago, Dwight has led Commercial and Market Development, Insights and Innovation, and is currently leading the Canadian business and several global clients based out of North America.

Rory McAlpine - Senior Vice President, Government and Industry Relations of Maple Leaf Foods

Rory McAlpine is Senior Vice President, Government and Industry Relations with Maple Leaf Foods. In this role, Mr. McAlpine has overall responsibility for working with government and industry partners on matters of public policy, programs, regulatory affairs and trade. Mr. McAlpine brings to Maple Leaf Foods a wealth of experience gained during more than 30 years of working in government, trade and agribusiness. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. McAlpine served as Deputy Minister of the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries from 2002 to 2005. He also obtained significant experience with the Federal Government as Executive Director and Director General, International Trade Policy Directorate; Director Grains and Oilseeds Division; and Deputy Director Multilateral Trade with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Mr. McAlpine also held the position of Executive Director of the National Farm Products Council and was a Trade Commissioner with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, with postings in Kuwait, Bangkok, Brussels, Edmonton and Ottawa. Mr. McAlpine serves on a number of boards including the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute, VIDO-InterVac (University of Saskatchewan), Food from Thought (University of Guelph) and the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security. Mr. McAlpine holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
