Are you affected by brain injury/stroke?

Join us for our upcoming workshop,

Recreation Therapy and Brain Injury: Why is a Recreation Therapist Different from other Therapists?

In this workshop we will discuss how a Recreation Therapist (RT) designs intervention strategies for an acquired brain injury survivor using their past, present and future interests and lifestyle. Incorporating their interests combined with social, cognitive, physical, and leisure needs makes the therapy process meaningful and relevant. RT’s weave the concept of healthy living into treatment to ensure not only improved functioning, but also to enhance independence and successful involvement in all aspects of life.

Presenter:  With Chris Rafuse CTRS, BSc-TR

After a career in marketing & sales Chris decided to pursue her passion in behavioral health for community reintegration. After graduating from Dalhousie University she became a Certified Recreation Therapist. Before moving from Nova Scotia, Chris had the first private practice for community reintegration using therapeutic recreation as a rehabilitation tool for complex brain injury. Chris is currently living on Vancouver Island working in mental health and as the Cowichan Stroke Branch Coordinator.

This workshop is free for people with acquired brain injury/stroke and family caregivers. Space is limited. Please register to reserve your seat.
