Redacted City Photo Exhibit Opening Reception - 2023 DesignTO Festival

Come enjoy the opening night of Redacted City, a new photo exhibit by Toronto artist Henry VanderSpek, part of the 2023 DesignTO Festival.

The exhibit features unique images of Toronto, taken over ten years, showing street scenes where words have been covered up or removed. Henry is excited to share this new set of carefully curated images with you and would love to have you there to enjoy the night!

• Location: Artscape Youngplace, 180 Shaw St, Toronto, Second Floor
• Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be available
• Henry may say a few words around 7:30 PM and will be available throughout the evening
• *Please note that regular building hours are 9 AM - 5 PM if visiting the exhibit at other times

About the artist:

Henry VanderSpek is a Toronto art and documentary photographer who loves to capture vibrant moments of street life and to celebrate small business people and their contributions. This is his second DesignTO exhibit. Old World Shoes, won "Best of Exhibition" in the 2022 DesignTO Festival. His previous exhibits Taxi Drivers of Toronto (2017 Contact Photo Festival), Old World Shoes (2021 Contact Photo Festival) and On Notice (2022 Contact Photo Festival) were featured by a number of media outlets, including Now Magazine, CBC Radio's Here and Now and Metro Morning programs, CBC TV, BlogTO and others. Henry lives in East York with his wife Suzi and their three children.
