Heather Wallingford explores Reflections of Nature in oil paintings, painted wine glasses, candles, cards, and Christmas balls. The title of the exhibition comes from her two loves, flowers and the water and trees of Northern Ontario. The public is encouraged to attend the opening reception on Saturday, October 1, 1-4 pm, where Heather will be present to discuss her work.
Heather has always been involved in some form of handwork. She remembers knitting with her grandmother when she was 4 years old. A car accident in 1992 made it impossible for her to sit for more than a few minutes at a time. In her search for handwork that could be done while standing, she met Wendy Fahey from Lively who introduced her to decorative art.
Heather sees her involvement in Artists on Elgin as an opportunity that has stimulated her creativity beyond even her own expectations. “I am always looking for ways to do more painting…recently, I have been giving classes to help people learn different brush strokes in order to paint their own cards, gift bags, and paint with their children and grandchildren” she explains.
