Description

DESCRIPTION

NIN and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo have collaborated with the Centre for Race and Culture and Refugee Awareness Alberta to offer a free workshop for NIN member organizations.

When: May 30th 8:30am-12:00pm at Syncrude Athletic Park

About: The workshop is for service providers (government, non-profit, and private) from front-line staff to managers and supervisors. The workshop aims to provide accurate and comprehensive information about refugees to host communities. It supports individuals and organizations in understanding the pre-migration experiences of refugees, offer practical tools for working with refugee families, and provide ideas for creating welcoming and inclusive environments that ensure sustainable and successful resettlement of refugees in Alberta.

Cost: This is free of charge

Why: The workshop would be particularly of interest for improving client focused service delivery, increasing awareness of the challenges that refugees face, and increasing understanding some systemic barriers that are in place.
