Refugium - Artist Talk
Event Information
About this event
On Thursday February 17, join the Art Gallery of St. Albert for a fascinating conversation with Julya Hajnoczky, the wonderful artist behind our latest exhibition Refugium.
“I want to inspire wonder at the small, often overlooked details of the natural world… to encourage the viewer to consider their roles and responsibilities as members of the ecosystem that sustains us.”- Julya Hajnoczky, 2021
Julya Hajnoczky’s work evokes a sense of future nostalgia; a tender longing sadness in light of what we know is yet to come. Her exhibition Refugium presents photographs and installations that visualize the consequences of industrial human civilization: catastrophic habitat fragmentation and species loss.
Tune in to learn more about her artistic practice, including her unique photography methods and the joys of field work. Become entranced by the tiny, yet charismatic, flora and fauna that is all around us.
