Relief Printing Workshop

About this Event

Instructor : Marvyn Rivett, Snowbird Art

Duration : 1-hour

Class Size : max. 8 participants

Time : 12:00 noon

Fee : $20.00 per person + $2.60 HST

In relief printing the ink sits on the top surface of a block. What has been carved away remains white. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn about different plate and paper materials, carving, inking and printing techniques. Each participant will carve a small plate, ink it and make a set of prints to take home.

Meet the instructor:

Marvyn retired after 30 years of teaching and now spends most of his time making art. He enjoys painting in oils and acrylics and making prints using linoleum, woodblocks, wood engraving and letterpress.

He works in his studio in Niagara Falls in the summers and Florida in winters. He volunteers at the Mackenzie Printery and Newspaper Museum in Queenston, ON and works at Harper Print Studio in Eustis Florida.
