About the Workshop Series
Brand new workshops in collaboration with Experiential Data science for Undergraduate Cross-disciplinary Education (EDUCE) at the U. of British Columbia.
This is a 3 part workshop series. Your registration covers the 3 sessions, totally 6 hours of instruction
- Workshop 1: Monday, June 25, 2:00 - 4:00pm
- Workshop 2: Wednesday, June 27, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
- Workshop 3: Friday, June 29, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
In this series, we introduce computational reproducibility and its importance to modern research. We will teach the general principles for reproducible computer-based analyses, along with specific methods and tools for reproducibility and version control with RStudio and GitHub.
You will learn how to:
- Construct reproducible, automatable workflows in R
- Create reproducible documents using Rmarkdown to include underlying code / computations with relevant graphical and statistical results in several different formats (reports, presentation slides, handouts, notes)
- Use Git version control
- Integrate version control with GitHub for both personal and group projects
Pre-requisites
ECOSCOPE workshops "Introduction to R" or "Advanced introduction to R", EDUCE modules in MICB 301/405/425/421, or equivalent knowledge of R.
