Respectful Workplace Training with Natasha Tony.


Presented by the St. John's International Women's Film Festival's Scene and Heard Film Industry Conference.


This full-day course, aimed at individuals working in the arts sector, examines acceptable and unacceptable workplace behaviours, including those that are considered bullying and harassment. Using the Occupational Health & Safety lens, this course identifies the responsibilities of employers, supervisors, and workers with regard to prevention and response, and provides practical strategies to improve communication and create a positive workplace environment.


This workshop is open to everyone. We encourage local businesses, artists and arts organizations to send staff to this important training session, led by Natasha Tony.


This training will:

  • Increase participants’ understanding of discrimination, bullying and harassment in the workplace.

  • Explore Cultural Sensitivity.

  • Explore relevant laws, policies and employer’s policies to prevent and deal with discrimination, bullying and harassment.

  • Provide tools and examples of best practices for responding to bullying and harassment.

  • Understand our legal duties under the Workers Compensation Act.

  • Recognize the potential for workplace bullying and harassment.

  • Explore the legal duties of employers, workers, and supervisors for preventing and responding to workplace bullying and harassment.

  • Discuss reporting procedures.

  • Discuss how to deal with incidents or complaints, including investigations.

  • Understand what co-workers can do to stop bullying and harassment.

  • Understand how you & others deal with conflict in the workplace.


There will be a lunch break. Tea, coffee and refreshments will be served.

Natasha Tony works in Vancouver BC as an Assistant Steward for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 891. Natasha specializes in conflict resolution and labour relations. Building on the skills she has learned studying mediation, negotiation and coaching at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, Natasha has developed and presented workshops and master classes throughout North America.

In addition to designing and facilitating workshops Natasha also enjoys guest speaking in Canada and the US on activism, equity and inclusion. A committee member on the BC Federation of Labour’s, Women’s Rights and Human Rights committees she is also the Chair of IATSE Local 891’s Women’s Committee.
