RESTOSPECTIVE: Célestin
Event Information
Description
When Célestin opened its doors in 2002, they were voted Top Ten New Restaurants in Canada. The creamy, elegant décor inside the vintage bank building was truly the perfect backdrop for a special evening. The atmosphere was urbane, yet timeless, humming with a fun-loving, discerning clientele - the who’s who from music to politics.
Célestin was subtle and cheerful, but constantly put forward a flawless and exquisite dining experience. Chef Pascal Ribreau and his (then Sous Chef turned Executive Chef/Owner) Ivan Bailey’s unique menu read like no other.
Jeff Dinan and his talented front of house crew complemented Ivan and Pascal’s kitchen by providing outstanding service that was lighthearted, funny, quick and clever – yet always professional.
Célestin truly was an unforgettable dining experience. Critics from The New York Times, The Wine Spectator, The Washington Post, The National Post, Toronto Life, Enroute, Globe and Mail to name a few – held Célestin in the highest regard and bestowed this special little gem on Mount Pleasant with many well-deserved accolades.
And now, on April 25, 26, and 27th, Emily Harding Gallery will play host to a Célestin pop-up, led by Jeff Dinan and chef Ivan Bailey. Part of Dinan's "Restospective" dining series, where revered restaurants from Toronto's past are re-opened for 3 nights, the return of Célestin will be one not to miss. Favourite menu items like the Rabbit Ravioli and Crab Soup will be returning; the Wednesday night crowd will be fortunate enough to be served by the beloved and infamous, Marty; and the evening will pay tribute to the classics, set in a contemporary gallery with work by visiting artist, Reza Nadji.
