The ROC-MC iis intended for mariners, serving on compulsorily fitted commercial ships within the North American A1 Sea Area.
Radio operators on "small fishing vessels" are defined in Transport Canada's Small Fishing Vessel Inspection REgulations as a vessel that is not a sailing ship; exceeds 15 tons (gross tonnage); is used in commercial fishing, but does not exceed 150 tons (gross tonnage) and does not exceed 24.4 meters in length.
This exception permits such vessels, when outfitted with MF or HF transmitting equipment, or both, to carry radio operators holding only a Restricted Operator's Certificate - Maritime Commercial.
New rules apply to ships of closed construction that are more than 8m in length; ships carrying more than six passengers, and; towing vessels.
You must be 18 years of age to participate, and upon successful completion of the course and exam, you will receive lifetime certificate. There are no nationality requirements for issuance of the ROC-MC certificate, and does not require a photograph or revalidation.
This 3-day course includes a final exam and lifetime certification.
Have your own radio? Bring it along and be tested on your own equipment!
You are not required to take both course, but we are checking the interest how many seats to open up for these courses.
Cost to be determined shortly.
