About this event
Through funding from the Gov't of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program, the RETHINKING AGING WORKSHOPS are now available FREE to Ontario residents 55+ living independently in their communities.
Can changing the way you think about aging really change the way you age? It might sound like wishful thinking; however, recent scientific research reveals that our beliefs about 'getting old' have a profound effect on our aging trajectory. Not only can they influence mental and emotional health, but our body’s physical aging processes as well. The good news is that disproving those negative stereotypes of aging has the potential to improve both cognitive and physical health in older adults.
Held virtually on Zoom, participants take part in a series of entertaining, enlightening and challenging exercises in which they explore how people age in other cultures, glean valuable lessons for their own lives and ultimately create a personal definition of ‘living, aging, and dying well.' The open, engaging feeling of the workshops encourages and empowers seniors to embrace their aging process and create a rest-of-life plan to grow old with determination, dignity and purpose.
