HealthVisions Midwest of Fort Wayne is excited to continue the ReThinking Health awareness series, a series focused on increasing health equity awareness, stirring discussion, and cultivating solutions for disparities in our community. This event will feature Zachary Benedict. Benedict, the President of MKM Architecture + Design and The Journal Gazette's 2022 Citizen of the Year, will engage and enlighten participants about the impact of community development on health and well-being.
Benedict has dedicated his career to understanding the connection between people and places. As a principal at the firm, he manages numerous projects ranging from critical access hospitals to public libraries. In addition to his architectural work, Benedict manages the firm's research initiatives and hosts Health is Membership, a video series by MKM exploring the connection between placemaking and well-being.
Benedict oversees MKM's community health work. With an extensive background in urban sociology, he is considered one of the leading voices in the "Lifetime Community" movement, focusing on the socio-economic benefits of age-friendly neighborhoods. Through these efforts, he has lectured internationally on numerous topics, including discussions that focus on encouraging communities to reevaluate the importance of inclusive civic space.
Light refreshments will be served.
