Returning to our Roots: Celebrate being Black and LGBT2SQ

FREE Workshop and Coffee House -- Celebrate being YOU!

for LGBT2SQ Black youth served by Children's Aid

(or CAS, or the child welfare system, or Child & Family Services)

  • A chance to meet other LGBT2SQ Black youth who are also involved with Children's Aid
  • A time to talk, get artsy and CELEBRATE what it means to be Black and LGBT2SQ
  • Arts activities, fabulous chances for gender expression that steps outside the gender boxes
  • Coffee House celebration -- a chance to PERFORM if you WANT to, but you don't have to. If you have a song, spoken word, dub poem, reading, music, skit or anything about your identity that you MIGHT want to perform, bring it along!
  • FREE LUNCH and TTC included

Saturday April 28th, 11am-2pm

30 Isabella St, 7th floor, Toronto, ON M4Y 1N1

(NOTE -- event was rebooked from April 14 due to the ice storm)

Facilitated by Buttercup Ferguson and Niko Young -- young Black queer/trans artists and change-makers

WHO is it for? -- Open to kids and youth up to age 21 who are or have been involved with any Children's Aid agency (in care or with your family). "Black" includes bi-racial or multi-racial if you include Black as part of your identity. LGBT2SQ includes queer, 2-Spirit, pansexual, trans, non-binary, genderqueer, gender fluid, agender, asexual, intersex as well as gay, bi, lesbian, gender independent, gender creative and other gender or sexual identities.
