Description

Please join us to help restore some degraded areas along Fish Creek in south Calgary. This fall, the Friends of Fish Creek will be hosting two fieldwork days to ReWild Fish Creek:

  • Monday, October 7 from 8am to 4:30pm

  • Thursday, October 10 from 8am to 4:30pm

Tasks vary from moderate physical labour to heavy physical labour and volunteers must be able to walk off-trail. Activities will include: scarifying compacted soil along desire trails, digging holes, planting native shrubs and trees (rooted and cuttings), spreading native seeds, watering and mulching the plantings, unwrapping/rewrapping trees, removing invasive species, installing fencing and signage to discourage future off-trail use.

Meeting Place:

Meet at the red barn in the Bow Valley Ranch area of Fish Creek Provincial Park at 8:00am.

We will provide:

Ecology education, task instruction, safety orientation, supervision, tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as water, lunch and snacks.

Please bring/wear:

-comfortable work clothing, long pants and long-sleeves recommended and layers for variable weather
-sturdy, closed-toe footwear
-travel mug and refillable, water bottle (refillable on-site, no glass mugs or bottles, please)

Please do not bring pets, valuables, earbuds.
