RISK MANAGEMENT FOR VOLUNTEER MANAGERS (VMC 103)
Event Information
Description
RISK MANAGEMENT FOR VOLUNTEER MANAGERS (VMC 103)
(1 day – 6 hours total) Fee: $110
The purpose of a Risk Management Plan is to protect your organization, staff, volunteers, and clients. The more you can make risk management a part of your organization’s culture, the more it puts your organization, rather than the potential risks,
in charge.
It makes no difference whether staff or volunteers provide a service, if something goes wrong, your organization could be exposed to liability.
Managing risk doesn’t have to be an intimidating or overwhelming task! A successful risk management strategy is one that is tailored to your organization.
In this 1-day workshop, you will discover how to:
- Discover what is risk and risk management
- Define the in-depth process of risk management
- Create and Implement a risk management plan
- Evaluate the outcomes
Overview The responsibility for volunteer management may be assigned to staff whose primary function lies elsewhere, for example: administrative assistance, fund development, human resources or event planning. Many organizations could not function without the generous contribution of their dedicated volunteers. Effective management of volunteers is a crucial element for the success of non-profit organizations. Participants who complete the certificate program will be provided with the knowledge, tools and networking opportunities to align their work with the strategic mission and values of their agency. This in turn strengthens capacity within the organization.
Curriculum The Volunteer Management Certificate curriculum is based on current accepted core competencies and a body of knowledge which serves as a foundation for volunteer management. Participants will be given many opportunities for interactive learning and is an excellent opportunity to develop professional relationships that will support them following this rich learning experience.
Enrolment Participants may register for individual courses without having to be a student in the Volunteer Management Certificate program. Students wishing to obtain the Volunteer Management Certificate must apply to Volunteer Management Institute to state their intention of completion. There is no fee to apply.
Cancellation Policy While Volunteer Management Institute strives to ensure there are no disruptions in our training, there may be occasions where issues arise that are beyond our control. We are committed to notifying participants within 72 hours of any changes to the workshop. In the case where training is rescheduled, this will be done as soon as possible and participants have the option of transferring to the rescheduled session or a refund will be issued.
