Event description

Description

To change the world, we need to see ourselves as agents of change and to engage in radical methods of engagement in communicating with one another. To take a risk and step outside of our comfort zone is one of the radical methods this training will use to assist you in your personal transformation. One of such risks may be expressing ourselves using our body and challengin our assumptions while intepreting body language. In a safe workshop environment, you will be able to test the risk-taking process and learn how to integrate it into your practice.

Is this workshop for you?

Yes, if you:

  • are a facilitator, educator, peacemaker, community-based artist, activist or community organizer passionate about social and environmental justice.

  • work with others on affecting positive change.

  • have been experiencing a gap between your vision and your actions.

  • desire to transform your work so that it advances the change you envision.

What to expect?

  • Dynamic and physically engaging experiential activities using Image Theatre aproach

  • Interacting with other participants in break-out groups

  • Challenging our biases in communication with others

  • Critically reflecting on our paths as changemakers

  • Practicing changemaking skills

  • Role-playing effective ways of communication, confronting the difficult, and rather-to-be-avoided situations - with a colleague, a superior, or a client.

  • Sharing and listening to experiences with transformation and risk

Testimonial:

“Groups were organically formed; they shared stories and one story was chosen to be played in a frozen mode. Other participants were invited to change the position of the "actors" or add material to the plot. That was very new to me and found profoundly transformational. Pavla is very much flexible adapting her core work to different themes. She is also very professional with deep intuitive skills in approaching people. She shares her knowledge in a very practical and natural way. We leave her workshop wishing to have more. She has an adorable and natural presence.” Susana Ochi, InterChange4Peace, Toronto (2016)

Facilitator:

Pavla Uppal is an educational consultant bringing arts-based approach to professional development. She shares transformational faculties of Image Theatre and story-telling with changemakers, and focuses on social and environmental justice. She worked with facilitators, activists, and educators in Europe, Canada, USA, and Malaysia. Her company Your Story Matters offers a unique training that invites holistic interaction, reflection, and affects transformation.www.expereintialtraining.org
