About the Program
LEGO WeDo
Learn robotics with LEGO Education WeDo! Build snapping alligators, race cars, spinning robots and learn to program them with the WeDo visual drag-and-drop programming software.
In this kid’s robotics course, students are taught engineering basics with an emphasis on exploration and trial and error field-testing. Instead of simply “snapping bricks together,” students are encouraged to think critically about how and why their design needs to adapt to changing conditions. Our guided, personalized instruction allows younger kids to understand more complicated engineering techniques such as gear use, pulleys, and inclined planes.

LEGO Mindstorms
Design awesome machines with the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Base Set and Software. Using visual drag-and-drop programming software, build a drag racer that speeds up as you cheer louder or a guard robot that growls at nearby intruders.
In this class, students experiment and discover engineering basics via trial and error field testing. Rather than just “snapping bricks together,” students learn critical thinking skills and modify their robot designs in varying conditions. The course exposes students to more complex engineering techniques such as pulleys, inclined planes, and gear use. Let’s get building!

Simple & Powered Machines
The purpose of this course is to present a short unit on simple and powered machines for use in elementary classes. Campers will utilize simple machines that demonstrate force, friction, work, and power. The experiments are hands-on activities that help students investigate and understand simple & powered machines. The principle and mechanics defining each machine will be reviewed. Each demonstration will be followed by an analysis of the variables, data collection techniques and questioning strategies to elicit appropriate and valid student-generated observations and conclusions. Application to real life situations will be tied in.

Coding (also called programming or developing) is telling a computer, app, phone or website what you want it to do.
MIT App Inventor is an innovative beginner’s introduction to programming and app creation that transforms the complex language of text-based coding into visual, drag-and-drop building blocks. The simple graphical interface grants even an inexperienced novice ability to create a basic, fully functional app within an hour or less.
Teaching students to embrace computational thinking
Primary Objectives:
Promoting computer science education – Learning to code prepares kids for the world we live in today. There are tons of jobs and occupations that use the code directly, like web designers, software developers, and robotics engineers, and even more where knowing how to code is a huge asset—jobs in manufacturing, nanotechnology or information sciences.
Learning To Code Develops Problem Solving And Computational Thinking Skills – The skills that come with computer programming help kids develop new ways of thinking and foster problem-solving techniques that can have big repercussions in other areas.
Coding Is Fun! -Beyond the practical reasons for learning how to code, there’s the fact that creating a game or animation can be really fun for kids.
