About this Event

Rock & Roll Revisited

Just Crazy Enough - What can we learn from different kinds of minds?Explore the theme through reflective words and the music of The Doors, Matchbox 20, The Stones, Bill Withers; played by local musicians.

Rob Thomas, the lead singer for Matchbox Twenty, wrote the song “Unwell” as a metaphor for humanity in general. It is a song for people who feel messed up and alone. Rob says “We all feel a little messed up sometimes… you’re not alone.”

About the musicians

Meet three friends who love to play music together – John Doyle, Ed Romaniuk and Steve Cooke. Music is not their day job but it has been a passion throughout their lives and they have played in such bands as Toronto Harbour and Delayne Drive for decades. In fact Steve and Ed have known each other since high school.

These wonderful musicians have supported the ministry of Beach United Church in many ways – playing for “Worship Amplified” services and at the “Spring Fling” fundraising event hosted by the choir. We are grateful that they have donated their time and talent to BUC.

About the theme

Karen Dale, who is in ministry with Beach United Church, reflects upon how we all think differently. She says - “Music changes us. Music allows us to take destructive thoughts and shape them differently, if only for a short time. For some people music can be an escape from the torment. There is a redemptive power in music.”
