Event description

Description

Participants will explore strategies to make role-playing exercises more effective for healthcare students in classroom and clinical settings. They will also learn about and experience potential uses of participatory action theatre in healthcare education and research. Examples of engaging learning activities and resources will be provided.

This workshop will be facilitated by Erin Hammond, B.A. Theatre/ Drama (Hons.), B. Ed.

Erin has been a creative spirit since she first took to the stage as a fetus in Flin Flon. Erin has worked as an actor, playwright, director, producer and Arts Educator for over 15 years. She has taught theatre and drama to all ages and abilities at Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Prairie Theatre Exchange, CMU and in collaboration with numerous community organizations and educational settings. She enjoys facilitating specialty classes that are inclusive of all members of the community. Erin worked for many years as a Senior Artist with Learning Through The Arts, The Integrated Arts, ArtsSmarts and many other residencies. She continues to facilitate Professional Development workshops throughout Manitoba.

Erin is proud to act as Chair for the Alliance for Arts Education Manitoba board alongside such wonderful members. As a northern girl she co-created PushPlay Productions – a company whose mandate is to promote and sustain the dramatic arts in rural communities. In the summer of 2009, Erin received a Canada Council for the Arts Award and studied Theatre for Living with David Diamond at Headlines Theatre in Vancouver and has led workshops on social issues with numerous organizations and theatres throughout Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

Erin is thrilled to be supporting staff and students at Wolseley School in Winnipeg School Division as she wears two hats: Resource teacher and teaching Performing Arts to Nursery-Grade 6 students. She is passionate about using all of her experience within the arts and education to inspire creative citizens to create change in our city and world.
