Rosanna Butterfield (cello) and Jannie Burdeti (piano) will perform an exciting program of works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Farrenc, Schumann, Debussy, and Martinu.

Praised for her “supple phrasing” and “singing tone” (South Florida Classical Review), cellist Rosanna Butterfield is a versatile performer and teaching artist. After studying with Judith Fraser at the Vancouver Academy of Music throughout high school, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 2012 at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas, under the tutelage of Norman Fischer. Rosanna then became a Fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, where she honed her skills as an orchestral musician and participated in a variety of educational outreach projects (2012-2016). She was a Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center for three summers, and also played with the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland. Recently, Rosanna has enjoyed a multifaceted career, playing all over North America, from Portland, Oregon, to Sarasota, Florida, as well as spending a season based in Victoria, B.C., playing regularly with the Victoria Symphony and other local ensembles. She now lives in Washington, D.C.




Ms. Burdeti was a recipient of the DAAD German Exchange Grant for research on European Contemporary Music, which funded a year of study in Freiburg, Germany. She has also received awards from the Wideman International Piano Competition, King Award for Young Artists, the Stravinsky Awards International Piano Competition, and the Pacific Musical Society.

Ms. Burdeti earned graduate degrees from the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany and from the San Francisco Conservatory. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the Peabody Conservatory, where she is a protégé of international artist Boris Slutsky.
