Roseneath Theatre's FAMILY-FRIENDLY-FUNDRAISER
Description
Roseneath Theatre throws open its doors on Sunday February 28 for a FAMILY-FRIENDLY FUNDRAISER in the heart of Toronto’s Dundas-West Village. The event promises a fun-filled day, with something for younger and older attendees alike.
The day will be anchored by a performance of Robert Watson’s The Money Tree and will highlight food offerings from local DundasWest hotspots. Parents can relax and browse Auction Items while the kids tackle activities in the Kids Craft Area. We'll also honour a valued supporter as we bestow our annual Rosie Award to an individual who has made a significant volunteer contribution to Roseneath Theatre!
“This event is an excellent chance for the public to see one of three highly-acclaimed productions Roseneath Theatre is touring Ontario this season. Proceeds from the event will enable us to tour farther into the Province, reaching communities that don’t as-often have access to this type of arts experience" -Andrew Lamb, Artistic Director
Synopsis: When Shasta’s father loses his job, she is devastated to learn that previously laid plans for her upcoming birthday party must be significantly downsized. As the story progresses, Shasta and Simon meet a mysterious Traveler who gives them a seed that will make a tree grow leaves of money. Through a truly magical journey, the two ultimately learn that being a loyal friend is worth more than a big party or having all the latest toys. In the end, our friends, family and imaginations are truly our greatest assets.
The Money Tree made its premiere last year, and received Dora nominations for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Performance. This year it tours across Ontario for a second time, from January 25 – March 4, 2016
