Description
Rugby Strength Clinic
This clinic is targeting rugby players 17+ who aim to play at a higher level and get an edge on their competition. We will be limiting the size of the group to 15 individuals and will run 9:00am-1:00pm on Saturday December 10th.
Instructed by Andy Evans, former Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Rugby Canada's Men's 15s & 7s teams, participants will learn how to train in the offseason to develop strength, and power while developing the bodily structure needed to prevent injury and perform at the highest levels.
Hubert Buydens, a Rugby Canada international, will be a special guest where participants can learn from one of Canada's most experienced and solid players.
Upon completion of the clinic, participants will have increase competence in the following exercises,
- Back Squat
- Front Squat
- Split Squat
- Dead Lift
- Romanian Dead Lift
- Bench Press
- Chin Up
- Standing Press
- Bent Over Row
- Clean Pull
- Plyometrics
- Supplemental Exercises
- Trunk/Core Exercises
Finally, once participants have submitted their assessment sheet to the instructor they will be sent an individualised four week offseason strength, power, structure program.
FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Athletes should be 17+ and targeting higher levels of rugby performance and competition. Participants under the age of 18 will need parent/guardian consent for participation.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Fitness 2000 is a three minute walk from the Lougheed Skytrain Station. If driving, there are multiple parking lots with free parking available with submission of your license plate number.
What can I bring into the event?
Bring athletic shoes and clothing, weightlifting shoes (not necessary). A waiver and PAR-Q form will be filled out at the event.
