About this event

Alberta Municipalities (AM) is in the process of completing a needs assessment to improve our understanding of where local governments in Alberta focus their efforts related to climate change, and environmental and social sustainability topics. The first stage of this process has involved the deployment of an online survey to gather information on where local governments in Alberta have been focusing efforts related to climate change, and environmental and social sustainability topics, which of these topics are going to be a priority over the next few years, and where there are needs and gaps.

The next stage of this process involves three (3) 2-hour virtual workshops, organized by municipality type, where we will present the present the findings from the survey, seek clarity around survey responses for the top 3 priority topics local governments will be focusing on over the next 5 years, brainstorm program and service ideas, and explore implementation considerations and barriers. These virtual workshops are being organized by municipality type - rural, small urban and large urban - so that we can better understand local government climate change, and environmental and social sustainability needs at the various scales. The input collected in these workshops will be used to inform new initiatives to help local governments in Alberta take action on climate change, and environmental and social sustainability topics.

As a key stakeholder in this process, we invite you to join us at one of the following 2-hour virtual workshops.
