Join us for the book launch of Danger and Other Unknown Risks with graphic novelist Ryan North. Ryan will be doing a reading and interview about his latest work, followed by a live Q&A with the audience and book signing.
Danger and Other Unknown Risks reunites creators Ryan North and Erica Henderson for the first time since Squirrel Girl. On midnight of January 1st, 2000, the world ended. But it wasn't technology that killed it: it was magic. Now, years later, the Earth has transformed. Magic works (sort of). People are happy (sort of). But this new world isn't stable, and unless Marguerite de Pruitt and her canine pal, Daisy, do something about it, it'll tilt into deadly chaos.
Books will be available for sale by The Beguiling at the event.
This free event will be held on the lower level of the Lillian H. Smith Branch in the Auditorium. Hosted by the Merril Collection of Science Fiction, Speculation & Fantasy.
Doors will open at 6:15pm and the event will start at 6:30pm. No registration is required. Everyone is welcome.
Ryan North's recent work includes the non-fiction books How To Take Over The World and How To Invent Everything, the semi-fictional graphic novel adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five, and the so-far-fictional Unbeatable Squirrel Girl series for Marvel. He's a multiple New York Times bestseller whose work has been translated into 16 different languages so far, and as a linguist, he's very happy about that. He lives in Toronto, where he once messed up walking his dog so badly it made the news.
