Description

Ryerson University’s PhD in Policy Studies is pleased to be hosting the 2019 Health Policy, Planning and Programming Event on September 25, 2019 at Oakham House Lounge, Ryerson University Campus from 8:30AM – 2:30PM. This year’s theme is focused on a very current and relevant topic: Austerity vs. (Health) Equity. This year’s event will explore the impact of global, national and provincial austere policy measures on the health of populations and communities. A line-up of passionate and provocative thought-leaders from diverse health and social care backgrounds will examine and discuss key themes of austerity, health and significant current events globally, in Canada, in Ontario and in Toronto. The event will feature a world renowned keynote speaker on social determinants of health, Dr. Labonté, who will review the global and national trends in austerity policy measures and the impact on population health. He will be followed by an exciting plenary panel on ‘Austerity and Health Equity in Ontario’. It is comprised of key health and social services leaders that includes the Ontario Health Coalition, Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services, and the Basic Income Network Project.
