Register for a spot to sit in on a professional co-writing session in person at the Canadian Music Centre or from the comfort of your own home via online livestream.

Join Friendly Rich from The Lollipop People and Dave Clark from The Woodshed Orchestra as they begin to compose a song in 1.5 hours. Their process will be demonstrated live free to S.A.C. and CMC members and Culture Days attendees.

Rich and Dave are not only songwriters, but seasoned musicians with eclectic talents both leading their own musical ensembles; guaranteed to make for an incredible and unique co-writing experience. They will be opening the floor up to the audience to hear input, take suggestions, and answer questions, giving you the viewer a chance to become a small part of a shared project they're aiming to record in November.

When you register through Eventbrite, you have the option to select an "in person" ticket or an "online" ticket. If you're signing up for an online ticket, you will receive a link to view the Pro Co-Lab a day or two before the event.

About the writers:

Friendly Rich is a mad composer from Oakville, Canada. Mr. Rich composed background music for 3 seasons of MTV's The Tom Green Show. Since 1994, he has recorded exclusively for his own eclectic record label, The Pumpkin Pie Corporation. Rich holds a Masters degree in music from the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Lee Bartel and composer R. Murray Schafer. Friendly Rich and his modern music ensemble The Lollipop People have toured the world, sharing the stage alongside such artists as Of Montreal, The Tiger Lillies, and Amanda Palmer. Rich's newest recording, The Great Blue Heron (Pumpkin Pie Corp) is slated for release September 14th with an album launch at Heliconian Club on October 13th featuring Hawksley Workman and Kevin Breit joining Rich and The Lollipop People on stage.

Dave Clark is a Gemini award winning composer/author who has co-written music with Rheostatics, Gord Downie, Suzie Vinnick, Dale Morningstar, Dani Nash, Amanda Rheaume and Jim Bryson amongst many other fine folks. The most recent release "Guest Book" by Dave's band the Woodshed Orchestra features: Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Harmer, Amanda Rheaume, Kevin Breit, Dani Nash, Stephen Fearing, Suzie Vinnick, Friendly Rich Marsella, Victor Bateman, Amanda Balsys, Susanna Hood and Sam Cash all performing Dave's Songs. Dave created The Woodshed Orchestra in 2005 with passionate, courageous and joyful friends to play the music from his original songbook. A songbook that now contains over 200 original tunes. Dave has written a wide variety of eclectic original classic dance tunes that are not restricted by genre or fads. The band is a powerhouse that can play this high-energy music for up to four hours at a time. Clark leads the band Levon Helm-style from the drum kit, singing and sharing the lead vocal duties with every member of the band.
