Description
In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday, September 10, the Canadian Mental Health Association Mid Island is offering safeTALK, a half-day training workshop in suicide alertness, for the reduced rate of $10 per person. More than 50,000 people in 20 countries attend safeTALK each year and learn to:
-Identify people who may have thoughts of suicide
-Ask them directly about the possibility of suicide
-Connect them to life saving community supports and resources
PLEASE NOTE:
Talking about suicide can be difficult, especially if you have recently been impacted by a suicide attempt or death. Healing from these tragic events can take months or years, so we encourage you to take time for healing before attending a suicide intervention training.
If you have experienced a suicide death, healing support is available at BC Bereavement Helpline 1-877-779-2223, and www.bcbereavementhelpline.com. You can also access information and support at: Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, www.suicideprevention.ca/grieving/suicide-grief/.
