Event description

Description

Teacher candidates,

Have you ever considered how we can best prepare ourselves for the mental health issues that may be prevalent in our future students? There are many workshops available to us that aid in becoming aware, preventative and resourceful on dealing with students who struggle with their mental health. SafeTalk is a beneficial workshop for teacher candidates to better prepare themselves for any interactions with students who struggle with suicide.

SafeTalk is a half-day alertness training that prepares anyone 15 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. SafeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources, such as caregivers trained in ASIST.

On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, join TCLC as we host a workshop in training our teacher candidates to become a suicide-alert helper. Tickets are limited so get yours today!
