MART Presents Elaine Orsini (The Centre for Mindfulness Studies – Toronto, Ontario)
This insightful introduction to mindfulness and its application for those in the education field will incorporate an explanation of the neuroscience and research behind mindfulness while highlighting the effectiveness of personal training. This one day workshop will guide the participants through a number of self-care tools designed specifically for educators and share tangible strategies that can be immediately implemented in all schools.
At the conclusion of this thoughtful day you will have greater knowledge about the fundamental concepts of mindfulness and the attitudes that support mindfulness. Resources on mindfulness will be reviewed and participants will learn more about the myriad of applications of mindfulness in education. Our thoughts can often lead to stress and anxiety, mindfulness techniques can be used to manage these negative influences, increase self- awareness and regulate emotions. Join us for a day with Elaine Orsini who comes to us from The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto.
BIO: Elaine Orsini is an experienced teacher who received her degree from the University of Toronto. Her background in teaching spans many years and includes all levels of education; daycare to grade 12 and includes 4 years in Zambia. She is an accomplished faculty member of the Center for Mindfulness Studies with additional training in Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Without Borders. Ms. Orsini has many successful years of presenting on the subject of mindfulness to a large variety of audiences.
There is no restrictions on parking in lots surrounding the hall and church. Please feel free to park, even if there are reserved signage posted.
Lunch will be provided through Calabria Market. Lunch will include gormet pizza, pasta, chicken fingers, and salad. If you require assistance with dietary restritions or have special requests please contact MART's VP Jennifer Young at firstname.lastname@example.org. Fruit, pasteries and tea/coffee will be provided for nutrition breaks before and during the conference. Please bring a refillable mug and/or water bottle.
Doors open at 8:30, the conference will begin at 9am. The conference is scheduled to end at 3:00pm, with 30 minutes to speak with the presenter for questions.
