Japan Fair Association of Vancouver / Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

Sakura Days Japan Fair was established in 2009 and is presented by the volunteer-run Japan Fair Association of Vancouver (JFAV) as one of the April Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Month events. The JFAV is comprised of individuals representing Vancouver’s leading Japan-Canada business associations. JFAV’s mission is to showcase Japan and Japan-Canada communities to the Canadian community at large, in an effort to facilitate better understanding and relationships.

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) is a charitable non-profit organization founded in 2005. Celebrating urban nature, the Festival mandate uses the cherry blossom's transcendent beauty and spring themes as the inspiration to create new outdoor venues to produce innovative cultural experiences, showcasing local performers and artists. Arts and cultural programming includes the performing and visual arts, design installations, film, media, literary and culinary arts, cycling and walking excursions, outreach to schools, special needs, the sick and elderly to bring our diverse cultures together in community, helping to break down barriers. Programming actively engages community while celebrating diversity and urban nature through Metro Vancouver’s unique cherry tree heritage. Accessible, inclusive, family-friendly cultural programs bring joy to everyone with cross cultural sharing and understanding, raising the aesthetic taste and artistic appreciation of the general public. The motto of the festival "there is no stranger under the cherry tree" welcomes inclusion and participation of all community groups.
