Salon’s flourished in the 17th and 18th century in France as a way to bring together individuals from different backgrounds to exchange ideas, stoke passion, and inspire through conversation.

This salon evening embraces the original concept of the salon, and provides an open, non-discriminatory environment in which to learn, expand, and discuss creativity and progressive ideas. The idea is that each participant brings something valuable to the conversation, just through their unique personalities and experiences. Absolutely no academic preparation is needed to take part in these discussions, just a willingness to listen thoughtfully, speak genuinely, and entertain new and sometimes challenging ideas.

If you’re craving personal interaction, mental exercise, and in-person discussion in a relaxed environment fuelled by wine, cheese, and genuine conversation, this event is for you. You will be exposed to new ideas, powerful questions, and a variety of perspectives and approaches. Be prepared to be inspired, be challenged, to gain confidence in your own voice, and to create meaningful connections with others through the art of conversation.

The topic for this month's event is human interaction and intelligence in the digital age. Has unlimited access to information impacted our ability to think for ourselves? Do our in-person social skills differ from the social skills we dispaly online? Has the definition of a relationship changed? How might the human experience be impacted by the pervasiveness of the digital world? These questions and more will be discussed, with each and every participant's different viewpoint being valid and valued. Again, absolutely no academic preparation is necessary for these events, simply an interest to discuss and an openness to new perspectives.

The event this month will be held at Lift Bar and Grill in Coal Harbour. Enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful views in the enclosed heated patio, seated around the fire.
