About this Event

Doors at 9 p.m., Show at 9:30 p.m.

$10 in advance, $15 at the door

Sam Tudor grew up at a forest research station, developing an affinity for both plants and outdated technology in the process. His 2017 album Quotidian Dream was a campus radio hit and earned him a cult following Canada. The Georgia Straight called his album “a gem… with a penchant for everything left field” and wrote that Tudor’s songs are “mesmerizingly melancholy studies in the beauty of solitude…creating worlds of 3 a.m. Facebook feeds and solitary days in strange new apartments". Sam is a poignant, clear songwriter with experimental leanings that he proudly wears on his sleeve. Now based in Toronto, Tudor will be performing new songs at Burdock backed by saxophonist Ted Crosby, bassist Ben Dwyer, percussionist Evan Cartwright and synth player Yunjin Claire Lee.

Opening the evening is Toronto songwriter Julie Arsenault - of her latest album, Arsenault says - ‘"Mom Rock' is a transparently feminist EP, in comparison to my previous EP ‘Softness’, which was more subtle, and softer. Admittedly ‘Mom Rock’ is a silly title for an EP which touches on subjects like consent, reproductive rights and mental illness. I had to make light of things, and be positive, and that is what ‘Mom Rock’ represents. Positivity and light”
