Event description

Description

Rich Gasaway served 33 years in the fire service as a firefighter/paramedic and earned his way to Fire Chief. Along the way, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy while studying how individuals, teams, and organizations develop and maintain situational awareness and make decisions in high-stress, high-consequence, and time compressed environments.

Dr. Gasaway is widely considered to be one of North America’s leading authorities on First Responder situational awareness and decision making. He has authored 6 books, has been featured or referenced in more than 350 publications and has delivered his programs to over 51,000 First Responders worldwide.

This program looks at a summary of common mistakes and best practices discovered from the presenter’s extensive evaluation of more than 500 near-miss reports and line-of-duty casualty investigations. Improve your understanding of what’s killing firefighters at incident scenes and how to improve fire ground safety. During this fast-paced program we will look at the role staffing, communications, command activities, size-up, strategy, training, near-miss events and post incident evaluations play in best practices and common mistakes.
