Flawed Situational Awareness: The Stealth Killer of First Responders
Dr. Rich Gasaway served 33 years in the fire service as a firefighter/paramedic and earned his way to Fire Chief. Along the way, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy while studying how individuals, teams, and organizations develop and maintain situational awareness and make decisions in high-stress, high-consequence, and time compressed environments. Dr. Gasaway is widely considered to be one of North America’s leading authorities on First Responder situational awareness and decision making. He has authored 6 books, has been featured or referenced in more than 350 publications and has delivered his programs to over 51,000 First Responders worldwide.
This program shares the powerful findings of Dr. Gasaway’s extensive research on issues related to first responder decision making and flawed situational awareness. In his review of hundreds of near-miss reports, case studies, line-of-duty death reports and videos he continually found himself being frustrated because there were so many clues, indicators and signs that the incident was going to end in disaster.
A light breakfast and coffee is included from 8:00 to 9:00 am. Coffee breaks are also included throughout the day.
