Description

Schmoozy is Latitude 53's annual Gala Fundraiser—a sophisticated night of art, music and fine food. This year, the silent auction will be comprised of artists who have exhibited at Latitude 53 over the past 45 years, showcasing the artists that Latitude 53 is honoured to have supported and the organization's rich history of supporting contemporary art practices since 1973.

This year we are introducing Collector Hour, from 5–6pm, which will feature remarks from artists featured in the auction, as well as an introduction to collecting from Interim Executive Director Michelle Schultz. Whether you're looking to grow or start an art collection, this is a great chance to pick up some tips, and meet the artists before you take home their work.

Collector Hour tickets include admission to Schmoozy and the opportunity to register absentee bids should you wish to leave before bids close.

  • $50: Schmoozy Ticket 6–11:30pm ($65 at door)

  • $100: Includes Collector Hour 5–6pm

Schmoozy is an event for Latitude 53 members and invited guests.

Latitude 53 Contemporary Visual Culture is an artist-run centre in Edmonton, AB, Canada.

Founded in 1973 by a collective of Edmonton artists, Latitude 53 is one of Canada’s oldest artist-run centres dedicated to providing a non-coercive environment to assure the freedom of the artist, and give the public access to new art forms. Latitude 53 supports the research and development of new artistic practices and concepts, and encourages experimentation by artists through diverse programming.

Latitude 53 Society of Artists acknowledges Treaty 6 territory; the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, as well as the Métis. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples whose footsteps have marked these lands for generations. Our recognition of this land is an act of reconciliation and an expression of our gratitude for those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
