Frequently Asked Questions

Last year the tickets were divided into age groups, why has it changed?

  • We decided to create tickets that are open to all age groups this year, to avoid the problem of a single group getting sold out too fast. When you register for a ticket the website will ask your age, and this information is important to us so we can cater our future events to our audience.

  • Thanks for your patience as we try something new this year!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • Guelph Transit buses arrive at the University of Guelph Bus Loop every hour and half hour.

  • If you are planning on driving to this event, please see the UoG Parking facilities information here. Parking is FREE on weekends in all lots on campus.

  • Unsure of the building location? Copy these coordinates into Google Maps to find the Summerlee Science Complex: 43°31'48.1"N 80°13'42.0"W

What can I bring to the event?

  • Something to decorate as a wand

  • A bag to carry home all of your 'magical' supplies

Who needs a ticket for this event?

  • All guests need a ticket! Children of all ages (including those in strollers) and adults require a ticket. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

What if I don't give photo permission?

  • Let's Talk Science requests your permission to take photos for the use of promotion and fundraising for future events. We do not publish names of anyone in the photographs, but we may post them on our social media platforms. In addition, this is a public event so media such as local newspaper photographers and video crew may be on site, so we cannot guarantee that you or your child will not be photographed. Once you select a FREE ticket, you will be required to acknowledge photo permission for this event. If you are concerned about photography, please contact us directly at and we will try to address your concerns.

  • Thanks for your patience as we try something new this year! The photo permission is attached to the ticket process so we avoid paperwork and signatures at the door on a chilly November morning.

If I make a donation now, can I get tickets early?

  • In the interest of fairness, tickets will be available to EVERYONE on a first-come-first-served basis.

My child doesn't have a costume to wear, what can I do?

  • Costumes are not required. However, we offer free face painting and wand-making at the event, as well as a "photo booth" where your child can have their turn to dress up like a wizard.

Do we sign up for individual classes?

  • This event runs mostly as a large "Station Rotation". Some events are scheduled, such as our "Magical Lecture Series", so please refer to your Marauder's Map on the day-of for details. We will send the map in advance via email to EventBrite attendees. Please note that last-minute sign-ups may miss the email, but you will receive a printed map at the front door.

When will we find out about the available activities?

  • Stay tuned to our social media sites (Let's Talk Science Guelph on Facebook, @LTSGuelph on Twitter, and/or Let's Talk Science Guelph on Instagram for sneak-peeks. We will also be updating this EventBrite page periodically as Community Partners and Volunteer Leaders confirm their involvement.

I'm interested in being a volunteer or a Community Partner for this event, how can I help?

  • If you would like to volunteer for this event, please fill out this form and we will be in touch with you soon. We require our volunteers to attend a "Science with Impact" training session (held at the U of Guelph campus in September, date TBD). If you are a high school student, we can reward you with community service hours!

  • If you are a local business/organization and are interested in joining us as a community partner, please contact our Community Partner Liaison, Lauren at Community partners are expected to bring an educational hands-on activity to share with the children as part of our activity fair.

What other free events do you host?

  • Add your name to this form to join our SOWW mailing list (we will only email you about the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry events)

I'm unable to attend, can I transfer tickets to someone else?

  • Please cancel your order through EventBrite so that other participants can claim tickets.

The tickets are sold out! Is there a waiting list? How can I get tickets?
