School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with Let's Talk Science at U of Guelph
Sat, 5 November 2016, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM EDT
This fantastic magical and science filled day is based on the popular Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. By attending our School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you will have an exciting fun filled day of learning the science behind the magic. You can attend all of your favourite Hogwarts classes, like potions, defense against the dark arts, herbology and transfiguration and participate in science demonstrations and activities that fit the theme of each of the classes. Of course, your education would not be complete without learning the exciting sport of quidditch and visiting our very own astronomy tower! There will also be Honeydukes and Leaky Cauldron pop-up shops to buy all of your favourite magical snacks and drinks.
When you arrive at the Summerlee Science Complex and the University of Guelph, please enter through Platform 9 and ¾ (on the south side of the complex) and wait for the sorting hat to sort you into your new house. You will then be given a Marauders map, this is the key to the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and will tell you where all of your classes are located. You will collect stamps at each class you attend throughout the afternoon. Once you have completed at least 10 classes, you will be eligible to graduate from the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!
Please note, this is a drop in event so please feel free to go to which ever rooms you are most interested in and come to the event whenever you have time (however, it will take at least 2 hours to see most of the activities). Any children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (someone 16 or older).
Although this event would be fun for all ages (especially Harry Potter fans), it is targeted towards children ages 5 to 13.
Things to bring with you: something to decorate as a wand and a bag to carry home all of the handmade goodies from throughout the day.
Costumes are encouraged!
