The West Island Integrated University Health and Social Centre has the pleasure to offer you a SCIENCE IN THE MENU CONFERENCE entitled “CANNABIS USE: YOUR SMOKED-BRAIN: MEDIUM RARE OR WELL DONE?”

The SCIENCE IN THE MENU conferences are opportunities for presentation and exchange with researchers from the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and St Mary's Hospital research centres. The objective of these conferences is to inform the employees about major health issues based on the most recent research results.

This first conference will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 12:00 p. m. to 12:45 p. m. and it will be offered in English.

It will be presented by Cécilia Flores (Ph.D.) and Thomas Brown (Ph.D.), researchers at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute Research Centre, who will present the effects of cannabis use on brain development, daily life and different types of use.

This short 45-minute free conference takes place at lunchtime and is accessible:

- On site: Douglas Mental Health University Institute, Dobell Pavilion- Bowerman Room (B-1127), with limited space, we recommend that you register early.

- By videoconference with animation Centre hospitalier de St.Mary et Centres de la jeunesse Batshaw via the IRIS platform: access to videoconference equipment is required. Please contact the person at your institution who is responsible for videoconferencing resources to ensure the availability of the room and equipment required and to register your site.

- From a workstation via the ZOOM platform: access to a computer and a high-speed connection are required. Also, it is preferable to have a microphone and a webcam. Otherwise, you can send text messages. To access the conference, please click on the following link: https://zoom.us/j/5255277020

Please note that the conference will be offered in English only, however, exchanges and discussions may be held in English or French.

Le Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal est issu du regroupement du CSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île, du CSSS de Dorval-Lachine-LaSalle, du Centre hospitalier de St. Mary, de l’Hôpital Sainte-Anne, de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale Douglas, du Centre de réadaptation de l’ouest de Montréal, du Centre de soins prolongés Grace Dart et des Centres de la jeunesse et de la famille Batshaw.

De renommée internationale, l’Institut Douglas, affilié à l’Université McGill et à l’Organisation mondiale de la santé, soigne les personnes souffrant de maladies mentales et leur offre espoir et guérison. Ses équipes de spécialistes et chercheurs font constamment évoluer les connaissances scientifiques, les intègrent aux soins offerts à leurs patients et les partagent avec la communauté pour la sensibiliser et éliminer les préjugés entourant la maladie mentale.



The Montreal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (MWI IUHSSC) results from the amalgamation of the West Island Health and Social Services Centre, the Centre de la santé et de services sociaux (CSSS) de Dorval-Lachine-LaSalle, St. Mary’s Hospital Center, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, the West Island Readaptation Centre, the Grace Dart Extended Care Centre, Batshaw Youth and Family Centres and St. Anne Hospital.

The Douglas Institute, affiliated with McGill University and the World Health Organization, is a world-class mental health university institute that treats and offers hope and recovery to people who suffer from mental illnesses. Its teams of specialists, clinicians and researchers strive to constantly advance scientific knowledge, integrating it into patient care and sharing it with the community to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
