Event description

Description

Students must be age 11+ to attend Science in the Valley: Pi in the Valley, as this workshop is taught at the Grade 7 level. Students will assemble basic computer components and then participate in hands-on computer programming activities. They will use "Raspberry Pi's" a computer the size of a credit card, and a program called "Scratch", a simple drag and drop interface, to learn coding. This workshop will empower students to become active creators of information technology, rather than passive consumers. The aim is to enthuse students towards the creative possibilities of the application of Mathematics by digital literacy and technology entrepreneurship.

Math/Computer Science workshops are in our Science Labs and are two hours long.

The program helps to encourage and excite students towards further study of Science. All activities are taught with an emphasis on student participation and a "can-do" attitude. Students receive personal teaching instruction from TWU's Undergraduate students!

Cost for each workshop is $12 per student, once registration is confirmed via email, a mailed deposit by cheque will be required.
