Event description

Description

This is the first lecture workshop of the Science of Diet and Health series held Thursdays in the Plateau area (see other event pages for other times and places).
This workshop introduces the wholistic approach to health and explains how it accelerates the healing process. The focus will be on the relationship between diet, exercise, and mindfulness. Participants will learn the scientific basis of the wholistic approach and how it contrasts with and complements standard medical practice. Advice will also be presented on how to incorporate the wholistic approach into our busy lifestyles.
This class was first presented as part of the Inner Transition program of Transition NDG; as such, the relationship between Wholism, the Transition Movement, Inner Transition, Permaculture, and the Human Potential Movement will also be discussed.
The food preparation section of the class will be all about soup and liquid food. We will begin with the concept of the constant stock pot and proceed with the art of making delicious soups from chilled soups and smoothies to hearty stew-like meals. Never be caught again without a healthy meal 10 minutes away.
Please note that their will be no actual food preparation or cooking demonstration at this site; instead techniques will be explained with help of videos.

Class is $20 (underwaged pay what you can and family rates available) payable at the door

Taught by Dr. Steven R. Scott (PhD Religious Studies)
