Event description
Technology is all around us, and it’s not going anywhere!

About this Event

Teaching students to code is about more than just helping them understand the technology they are using and preparing them for employment in the future - at a fundamental level it improves problem-solving and thinking

skills.

This workshop will provide educators with guides, training, and

lesson planning to help them introduce code and computational thinking to students using the game and animation making tool Scratch.

This session is intended for educators with little to no coding experience to be able to teach fundamentals to students. We will cover the basics of navigating through Scratch, computational thinking concepts through specific game tutorials, and how to set

up a teacher’s account in the program. Participants will walk away with how-to guides and quick start guides for bringing coding into the classroom, solution sheets for building select Scratch games, and de-bugging exercises for coding practice. Laptops will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring a USB to take resources home with (alternatively they can be emailed).
