An event to deepen your knowledge about the impacts of sea level rise on False Creek and how you can be a part of shaping its Future.
About this event
About this Event
Youth climate leaders across Vancouver are making their voices heard as the urgency to advance climate policy increases.
False Creek is the beating heart of Vancouver. At 28km, it is the world's largest uninterrupted waterfront path. But sea level rise threatens the future of Vancouver’s coastal neighborhoods, including False Creek. As we take steps towards planning for the future of this community we must not forget to center youth voices, stories and experiences in these conversations.
In partnership with the City of Vancouver’s Sea2City Design Challenge, CityHive has been hosting the Youth Adaptation Lab to build youth awareness for the impacts of sea level rise and coastal adaptation in the False Creek neighbourhood. Our cohort is hosting this event as a celebration for the community and to create more opportunities for youth to come together and learn about sea level rise in False Creek with other curious youth.
Join us on Sunday May 29th at the False Creek Community Center for an interactive afternoon of learning, discussion and art based storytelling. This is event if FREE to attend! Bring your friends!

About the Organizers
Youth Adaptation Lab: A collective of 14 youth with deep connections to False Creek who have been working together for the last 10 months, along side the Sea2City project led by the City of Vancouver, to learn more about this place - its history and significance to the Host Nations and also what is in store for its future. These youth are designing three projects to bring youth voice into the coastal adaptation planning process for the City of Vancouver.
CityHive is a youth-led non-profit organization on a mission to transform the way that young people are engaged in shaping their cities and civic processes. We aim to engage youth in urban planning, city making and decision-making processes in Metro Vancouver. CityHive does this by working directly with municipalities to deliver youth engagement strategies and processes via fee-for-service work, by delivering knowledge-to-action civic education programs, and by hosting innovation labs and civic action programs including the Youth Adaptation Lab.
